Supported Employment

• The Supported Employment project was initiated by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and Apex was one of the first service units in the state to begin placing employees.  The  Supported Employment Unit or SEU is designed to help persons with disabilities to obtain and maintain employment. 

• Apex's SEU helps employers with staffing services, on-site job training and long-term follow-up services.  Services are provided at no cost to the employer.  Employees are trained by a qualified Employment Consultant who works for Apex.  The Employment Consultant is trained for the position and then trains the employee to do the work. 

• Employment Consultants assess the requirements of available job openings with interest and skills of applicants referred by Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and other referral sources.  Apex's staff match applicant's skills to employer needs and serve as a mentor to ensure a positive outcome for both employer and employee. 

• Employment Consultants, as well as the clients they place into competitive employment, contribute to the local economic.
