Who We Are Apex, Inc. is a not for profit agency that has been serving individuals with developmental disabilities for over thirty-one years. We currently serve thirty-five plus individuals in a variety of capacities. Apex operates Group Homes, as well as a seventeen unit and four-unit apartment complex, for individuals with disabilities who are able to live independently. In addition to those services we provide avenues for employment.
The philosophy of Apex from the beginning of its inception has been to be more than a caretaker of people with disabilities but to help each one be all that he/she can be. This philosophy has allowed clients to move from total care facilities to group homes; from group homes to independent living; from being taken care of to taking care of themselves while holding meaningful jobs in the community and at our sewing factory. Decisions are based on the answer to the question “Is it what’s best for the people we serve?” We advocate for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities whether or not we receive revenue from a funding source. Not everyone has been approved for services, but we feel that everyone deserves to be valued and given opportunity to better their situation and become participating members of society. This isn’t always easy for our agency, but we feel it is the right thing for us to do and even when the budget is tight we still focus on serving as best we can.
